Short version: alt-tabr has no analytics or telemetry and never sees your screen. It only goes online to check your license and look for updates.
What alt-tabr does on your Mac
- While you hold the shortcut, it reads your windows' titles and positions through macOS Accessibility to build the switcher list. It never captures your screen and never asks for Screen Recording.
- That list lives in memory and is gone when you let go of the keys. Nothing about your windows or apps is saved or sent anywhere.
- Your settings are saved in
~/.config/alt-tabr/.user-settings.jsonc.
The only network calls
- Activating a license sends your license key and your Mac's name (such as "Alexs-MacBook-Air") to Dodo Payments, so you can tell your Macs apart in the license's device list.
- Once per launch, alt-tabr sends your license key and activation ID to Dodo Payments to confirm the license is still valid. Deactivate This Mac sends the same two to free the slot.
- Checking for updates, once per launch (you can turn this off in Settings) and whenever you click Check for Updates, downloads a small file from our download server listing the latest version, plus the update itself if you install it. These requests carry no personal information.
- Like any internet request, these servers see your IP address. alt-tabr sends nothing else: no usage data, no crash reports and no device fingerprint.
Purchases
Dodo Payments sells alt-tabr as merchant of record. It processes your payment, handles tax, emails your receipt and license key, and processes refunds. It collects what it needs for that, such as your name, email address, billing country and payment details, under its own privacy policy.
We never see your card details. We receive your name, email address, country and order details, and use them to provide your license, support and refunds. We don't sell them or send you marketing email.
To measure our ads on X (Twitter), we tell X about each purchase: a one-way hash of your email address (not the address itself), the order ID and time, and X's click ID if you arrived from an ad on X. X uses this to match the purchase to an ad, under its own privacy policy.
This website
- The site can load Google Analytics and the X (Twitter) pixel. Google Analytics sets cookies to count visits and see which pages are read. The X pixel tells X when someone arrives from one of our ads on X. Both receive your IP address, browser and pages visited, under their own privacy policies (Google, X).
- In the EU, the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, they load only if you click Accept on the cookie notice. If you click Decline, or never answer, neither is loaded and no cookies are set.
- Everywhere else, they load when you open the site. Turn them off anytime with Cookie settings at the bottom of every page, and they won't load again.
- Apart from these two, there are no third-party scripts or fonts.
- To show an approximate price in your currency, and to know whether to ask before loading analytics, the site reads the country Cloudflare detects from your connection. It isn't stored.
- Your light or dark mode choice, and your cookie answer, are saved in your browser and never sent to us.
Your choices
Email alt-tabr@mohajeri.dev to see, correct or delete the details we hold about you. We may need to keep order records for as long as tax law requires.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. If alt-tabr ever starts sending anything new, this page will say so first.
